Under the Remission of Customs and Taxes on Exported Goods Act, the government has agreed to extend export privileges to 18 textile-related products (RoDTEP).

In order to increase exports of these goods, the government has expanded export incentives under the RoDTEP scheme to 18 items related to the textiles sector, including saari and lungis, according to a notification from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).

The notification stated that shipments made starting on March 28 will be eligible for the benefits under the tariff refund scheme.

The commodities covered by the duty return programme reportedly include cambric, casement, and shirting textiles.

The Commerce Ministry of India's flagship export promotion programme is called RoDTEP. The programme intends to reimburse exporters for embedded federal, state, and municipal taxes and tariffs that were paid on inputs but were not previously reimbursed or repaid.

With the intention of increasing domestic exports and replacing the Merchandise Exports from India (MEIS) scheme, it was unveiled in September 2019.

The Commerce Ministry of India's RoDTEP (Refund of Duties and Taxes on Exported Goods) export promotion programme is its centrepiece. The programme intends to reimburse exporters for embedded federal, state, and municipal taxes and tariffs that were paid on inputs but were not previously reimbursed or repaid.
