Global energy leader Chevron announced an investment of Rs 8,300 crore to establish its Engineering and Innovation Centre of Excellence (ENGINE) in Bengaluru. This strategic move will see the creation of 600 engineering jobs by 2025, focusing on engineering and digital services aimed at advancing energy system technology innovations.
In a statement, Chevron highlighted the collaboration with the Karnataka state government as a significant milestone in driving engineering and innovation within the region. “The collaboration between the state government and Chevron in implementing this Rs 8,300 crore investment is a clear indication of the significant progress in engineering and innovation in Karnataka”, Patil remarked.
Chevron's new centre in Bengaluru is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities for local professionals. The centre will play a crucial role in addressing global energy challenges by focusing on the development of clean, low-carbon fuels. Additionally, the Bengaluru-based team will manage complex global operations and energy projects in partnership with international stakeholders.
Dr. Akshay Sahni, Country Head of Chevron India, stated, "This centre will provide an opportunity for India's exceptional talent to work with the resources and expertise of our global network to provide affordable, reliable clean energy".
Bengaluru is already home to over 500 Global Competence Centres (GCCs), accounting for more than 30% of India’s GCCs across sectors like finance, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing. Karnataka continues to lead in promoting economic growth and development, making it an attractive destination for global investments like Chevron’s latest initiative.
