TheThe government's ChipIN Centre, as announced by the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), is set to revolutionize electronic design education by providing cutting-edge electronic design automation (EDA) tools to 85,000 students pursuing B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD degrees. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of positioning India as a global semiconductor hub, emphasizing the significance of chip and intellectual property (IP) design across various industries.

Presently collaborating with 10,000 students from 120 academic institutions and 20 startups, the ChipIN Centre is a flagship facility offering diverse design flows. Union Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, underscored the importance of not only semiconductor manufacturing but also chip and IP design for India's future in the global semiconductor landscape during the 4th Semicon India future DESIGN Roadshow.

At the event, industry leaders including Keysight Technologies, Synopsys, Cadence Design System, Siemens, and Ansys bolstered the capabilities of the ChipIN Centre, enhancing its offerings for researchers and startups in the semiconductor domain.

MeitY, in a further commitment to nurturing innovation, announced financial support for two semiconductor design startups/MSMEs under the DLI scheme during the futureDESIGN Roadshow at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Kerala. The supported startups include WiSig Networks, an IIT-Hyderabad incubated fabless startup specializing in 5G solutions, and GreenPMU Semi, another IIT-Hyderabad incubated fabless startup focusing on energy-harvesting power management ICs for battery-free IoT solutions.

The ChipIN Centre stands as a monumental facility poised to democratize chip design infrastructure, bringing state-of-the-art EDA tools to the doorstep of India's semiconductor design community and reinforcing the nation's commitment to becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse.
