Debangsu Ray Appointed Head of World's Largest Oil Refinery
Engineer Debangsu Ray from Tripura, who boasts of rich engineering background, was appointed as the head of Reliance Industries Ltd's Rs 1.7-trillion Jamnagar Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Gujarat. The world's largest oil refinery will now be headed by Ray-an alumnus of Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan in Tripura-who graduated in Chemical Engineering from NIT Warangal with gold medal.
Ray brings to the table over thirty years of experience in various leadership positions he held at Indian Oil Corporation, where he played a key role in some of the oil major's most critical reforms related to sourcing crude, significantly contributing to India's energy sector. Since joining Reliance in 2015, Ray has first run one of Jamnagar's sites and has lately served as the Head of Technology at the supersite.
Ray is appointed to oversee the whole of Jamnagar complex following the earlier man's departure. Aged 64 years, the second child of four sons born to Dhirendra Kumar Ray and Khela Ray, Ray is known for his expertise and approachable leadership style in the oil and gas industry.
This is a proud moment for the state of Tripura, as Ray will be donning the mantle of the most important task force at the world's largest refinery. It would be in the talent pool of the global corporate sector.
