PrimePrime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that Digital India embodies an empowered nation, enhancing 'Ease of Living' and promoting transparency, as he celebrated nine years of the initiative.

Highlighting the program's achievements, PM Modi shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, by MyGovIndia, stating, “A Digital India is an empowered India, boosting 'Ease of Living' and transparency. This thread gives a glimpse of the strides made in a decade thanks to the effective usage of technology”.

Launched on July 1, 2015, Digital India has transformed the nation’s digital landscape. MyGovIndia, in its post, reflected on India's journey, describing it as nothing short of extraordinary from revolutionizing digital payments to emerging as the fastest-growing digital economy.

The post also emphasized that Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) serves as a fundamental driver of social transformation and progress. India's robust DPI models, like the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), have made the country a global fintech leader. PM Modi noted that several countries are now ready to adopt 'India Stack' solutions to empower their populations.

Reflecting on the program's early days, PM Modi recounted criticism from opposition parties who alleged that the initiative was catering to service providers' interests. "They could not understand how significant this area is and that the 21st century is technology-driven, with artificial intelligence (AI) at the forefront", he told in May.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the digital revolution, spearheaded by UPI and QR-code-based payments, has demonstrated to the world the transformative potential of DPIs like UPI, Aadhaar, and DigiLocker, improving millions of lives across India.

The success of Digital India, PM Modi remarked, underscores the country's commitment to leveraging technology for social progress and economic growth, setting a global standard for digital governance and innovation.
