DISH Network appoints Kannan Alagappan as its Senior Vice President & Chief Technology officer. He will be reporting to Erik Carlson, the President & CEO of DISH. As CTO, Kannan will lead DISH Technologies, a DISH Group concern that plays a vital role in defining the company’s overall strategy. He will monitor the software and hardware engineering initiatives, and also manage the organization’s broadcast and satellite operations.

Erik states, “Kannan is an incredible strategist, technologist and an inspiring leader,” he further adds, “As DISH continues to deliver the best technology experience for our customers, and as we pursue our entry into the wireless industry, I’m confident Kannan's vision and leadership will prove transformative for our organization.”

Prior to DISH, Kannan has held several technology leadership positions. He has served as CTO and Head of Technology at Australian telecommunications Telstra. There, he was responsible for monitoring the creations of high performance software engineering centers all over the world. He even changed the Telstra’s approach towards product development and software engineering.
Prior to that, Kannan served as Senior Vice President of Data Center, Cloud & Product Engineering at Reliance Jio. He was responsible for creating the cloud data centers all over India by setting up cloud operations to manage more than 100 million customers.

Furthermore, Kannan has also served as VP of Strategy & Transformation Services at Rackspace Hosting. At Rackspace, he managed a team of engineers, who helped several enterprises to adopt and migrate to cloud. Throughout his career, Kannan has worked as a technology consultant for several Fortune 500 companies such as Comcast and T-Mobile.

Kannan holds a Master degree in Computer Science from Arkansas University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu.
