
EPAM to Shift Its Operations From Russia to India

EPAM Systems is expanding its delivery business in India, exceeding LTIMindtree in size. With more than 10,000 employees, it plans grow by 9-14 percent with 2,000-3,000 new hires. India now serves as EPAM’s largest offshore market, growing rapidly post-Ukraine-Russia war.
The chief marketing & strategy officer and SVP Elaina Shekhter stated, “Amidst the global upheavals caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Pennsylvania-based software engineering firm, EPAM has significantly increased its strategic focus on India, positioning it as a crucial hub for growth and innovation. Over the next several years, we believe that India will continue to be among the top three locations for EPAM. Today it is the second largest delivery center for the company.”
Adding to the above, she said that the company has ambitious plans for the region, including a significant expansion of workforce to more than double its employee count, reaching nearly 20,000 employees.
EPAM has more than 8,000 employees across five locations in India, which is an increase of about 150 percent in the last two years.

Going ahead, the company plans to recruit 1500 in the next two financial years. The shift towards India was accelerated by the necessity to relocate operations from Russia following the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine. The company is set to supersize its existing facility in Bengaluru in a month. EPAM is not only increasing its workforce and office space in India, it’s also focusing on encouraging innovation through the establishment of creative spaces where teams can innovate across various domains, including cloud and data.
