Eyeing Global Expansion of its Solutions, NEC Launches NEC Laboratories India at Mumbai

NEC Corporation established a solutions and technology site named NEC Laboratories India (NLI) in Mumbai, India. By employing highly skilled IT talent and conducting joint research with academia, customers and partners NLI aims at the global expansion of its solutions for society business and thereby promotes the agile development and commercialization of solutions for India and other emerging countries in association with NECTI’s (NEC Technologies India) Centers of Excellence.

Motoo Nishihara, SVP, NEC Corporation, says, “We need to take a long-term perspective and address community-based research and development activities to win the confidence of local customers and partners. The establishment of a research and development site in India, where there is a wealth of IT talent, will enable us to create solutions that are valuable for the whole world through agile research and development.”
Akihiko Iketani, Senior Manager, Central Research Laboratories will lead the operations in the new laboratory which will be established in July 2018.

With an expertise of more than 100 years in technological innovation, NEC Technologies India is headquartered in Noida and was founded in 2005. The NECTI widened its nationwide business from telecommunications to public safety, logistics, retail, finance and more. Bringing the safety business as a global growth, NECTI’s “Mid-Term Management Plan 2020”, covers the three-year period until FY2020 and it aims to promote the expansion of “NEC Safer Cities” business that includes public safety, digital environment and smart transportation.
