In a strong display of commitment to the Indian market, Google has announced ambitious plans to boost its presence in the country’s premium smartphone segment.

Speaking at the Made by Google event, Nanda Ramachandran, Vice President of Google’s Mobile Business, highlights India as a “fantastic growing market” with immense growth potential, particularly in the premium segment.

This comes as the tech giant officially launched its latest Pixel 9 series, marking Google’s first foray into the foldable smartphone market.

Ramachandran expressed confidence that India’s premium smartphone segment is poised to outpace several of Google’s other major markets, signifying the company’s heightened focus on the country.

The Pixel 9 series is a significant step for Google, catering to tech-savvy Indian consumers who are interested in cutting-edge technology.

Alongside the Pixel9, Google also unveiled the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2, expanding its product offerings in India.

The new devices are part of Google’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the Indian market, which has become increasingly important for the company over the past eight years since the first Pixel smartphone was launched.

To enhance the accessibility of its products, the company has partnered with Croma and Reliance Retail, ensuring that pixel smartphones will be available in over 150 stores across 15 cities, including key markets like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. This move is designed to bring Google’s products closer to Indian consumers, allowing them to experience the brand’s offerings firsthand. Additionally, Google is set to open three Google-owner walk in service centers in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. These centers, established in collaboration with Flipkart’s service arm, F1 Info Solutions and Services Private Limited, aim to provide enhanced after-sales support for Pixel devices

As part of its strategy to attract more customers, Google has also reduced the prices of its earlier Pixel smartphones models. This price reduction makes the devices more competitive in the Indian Market and accessible to a broader range of consumers. With these initiatives, Google is clearly positioning itself to capture a larger share of the growing premium smartphone segment in India, reaffirming its long-term commitment to the country and its consumers.
