HFCL Secures Agreement with General Atomics ASI for Drone Sub-Systems

IndianIndian telecom company HFCL has been selected by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Incorporated (GA-ASI) to develop and supply crucial sub-systems for its advanced unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), the company announced.

HFCL will produce drone detection radar, which is set to play a vital role in contemporary drone detection systems. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for HFCL, establishing it as a key contributor to some of the world's most sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The company's subsidiary, Raddef, focuses on creating portable and deployable advanced radar and radio frequency solutions tailored for diverse terrains.

HFCL Managing Director Mahendra Nahata expressed pride in the selection, noting, “Our partnership with General Atomics highlights our strong dedication to the Make in India initiative. These multifunctional drones symbolize our commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology to the defense forces”.

In addition to its telecommunications products, HFCL is engaged in research and development of radar technologies, including ground surveillance radars, weather radars, threat emulators, LTE-based passive radars, and other specialized systems for coastal surveillance and avalanche detection.

This collaboration reinforces HFCL’s position in the defense sector, utilizing advanced technology to enhance national security efforts.
