HMSI to Set up a Business Vertical Exclusively for Spearhead Exports Automotive major Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has set up overseas business verticals to spearhead its exports from the country.

Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President and CEO, HMSI says, "With an eye on the future, Honda 2Wheelers India aims to further consolidate its number one position in Honda's global motorcycle business while unlocking the next chapter of 'Make in India, for India and the world' in the BS-VI era."

In a statement, the company has stated that the new vertical is expected to harness the strength of over 100 associates across assorted functions to transform the organization into a global hub for two-wheeler exports.

Based out of company's Manesar facility, the new Overseas Business Expansion vertical strategically integrates SEDBQ (sales, engineering, development, purchasing and quality) functions under one roof to develop a globally optimal operating system, it adds.

The vertical may unlock new synergy by knitting the company's export-import sales function along with purchase, quality, homologations, development, manufacturing and logistics, the two-wheeler major hinted.

Implementing this would be a major organisational restructuring, the firm is looking forward to reinforce its business constitution and enhance its competitiveness to meet the high standard from its parent firm Honda, he adds.

Although, HMSI began its exports in 2001 with the launch of its debut model Activa, it was in 2015, that the company’s cumulative exports touched the 10 lakh-mark. The company is backed by fast product portfolio expansion and additional overseas allocation by Honda Motor Co (Japan), presently, HMSI exports close to 35 diverse markets across Central and Latin America, Europe, Middle East, South-East Asia, Japan and SAARC nations.

Lately, the company’s portfolio of 19 two-wheeler export models fulfils country specific homologation and regulatory requirement that include the most stringent Euro 5 conditions.

Likewise, the organization is also expecting a mid-sized motorcycle to further strech its presence across the overseas markets.
