Honda India Power Products (HIPP) Ltd announced the appointment of Shigeki Iwama as President on Monday.
Iwama, who was President of Honda Motor Europe's Central Europe business (Austria) from 2020 to 2023, succeeds Takahiro Ueda as CEO of the corporation, according to a release.
It was also said that his appointment will take effect on April 1, 2023.
Iwama has previously worked as Department Manager at Honda Motor Japan and as General Manager of the Power Products Department at Honda South America during his nearly 20 years with Honda Motor Company, specialising in the power products division.
Iwama stated that the company's efforts will be focused on capturing the "unwavering potential" of the Indian market while developing a culture of cooperation, innovation, and quality in his new job.
In terms of power product demand, India ranks fourth in the globe, displaying a great opportunity driven by a steadfast focus on agriculture, construction mechanisation, a consistent infrastructure boost, and impetus to the power and EV sectors, he noted.
