Another Indian-origin business executive has taken the helm of a major American multinational corporation.

Vimal Kapur, who has over three decades of experience leading the diversified manufacturer's various businesses, will succeed Darius Adamczyk as CEO, Honeywell International announced on Tuesday.

Kapur, 57, will take over as CEO on June 1, roughly 10 months after being named Honeywell's president and chief operating officer.

Kapur joined the company after finishing his studies in India. He earned his bachelor's degree in electronics engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering in Patiala, with a focus on instrumentation.

He has held a number of important positions within the company, including CEO of its building technologies and performance materials and technologies divisions. Kapur is also in charge of the company's operating model, Honeywell Accelerator, which employs a variety of tools, processes, and best practises to boost efficiency.

"Under Vimal's leadership, Honeywell's next operational evolution will be the incorporation of Accelerator and standardisation of global business models to enable maximum performance in each business segment," Adamczyk said in a statement.

Adamczyk, Honeywell's CEO since 2017, will remain as executive chairman and will receive a base salary of $1.3 million, the company said in a regulatory filing. Honeywell stated that Kapur's base salary as CEO will be $1.5 million. He has also served as Honeywell Automation's managing director.
