India Crosses Rs 85,000 Crore In Mobile Manufacturing Output With Aid Of Government Incentives
The top five global destinations for Indian mobile phone exports are the UAE, the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Italy. ICEA Chairman Pankaj Mohindroo had stated that "the mobile phone industry will cross $40 billion in manufacturing output, and 25% exports at $10 billion is a stellar performance."
By 2027, India is predicted to match China's iPhone production capacity of 45-50 percent. As of the end of 2022, India's production capacity accounted for 10-15% of total iPhone output. Apple became the first smartphone company in India to ship iPhones worth $1 billion in December. Apple currently manufactures the iPhone 12, 13, 14, and 14 Plus models in the nation.
According to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, the year 2023 would be a watershed moment for the country, as mobile phone exports will surpass Rs 1 lakh crore this year. India is currently on a new path, one that is "largely export-focused and driven by the government's performance-linked scheme (PLI) push."
