An Israeli company and an Indian defense company have inked a Memorandum of Understanding to introduce cutting-edge drone camera technology to India.

Paras Defence and Space Technologies and MicroCon Vision of Israel, a division of Controp and the Rafael Group, have signed the agreement.

Through the partnership, Paras Defence would be positioned as India's sole provider of cutting-edge drone camera technology at a "much lower cost".

“MicroCon will serve as Paras Defence’s exclusive supplier for drone cameras, which include ISR payloads and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) seekers, while Paras Defence becomes MicroCon’s exclusive partner for ISR operations in India. This aligns with MicroCon’s strategy to expand its footprint in the country, which is witnessing accelerated growth in its drone market”.

“This collaboration represents a major leap forward in India’s defence capabilities,” said Munjal Sharad Shah, Managing Director at Paras Defence.

“We are committed to supporting India’s strategic goals and are proud to partner with MicroCon in this groundbreaking endeavour,” he added.

By incorporating native content into these drone cameras and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) payloads, the Indian company is expected to increase national independence while reducing expenses.

The two models it is believed to provide are said to be priced at roughly Rs 20 lakh and Rs 40 lakh per unit when imported. In order to make cutting-edge surveillance technology more affordable for Indian military forces and commercial purposes, Paras Defence "anticipates a 50-60 percent price reduction for each model."

The goal of the MoU is to increase both businesses' market share in the Indian ISR payload industry.

The combination of cutting-edge technology like thermal vision, high-resolution imagery, and analytics driven by artificial intelligence will improve surveillance capabilities and operational efficiency in both the defense and civilian sectors.
