Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Denis Manturav is visiting India from November 11-12 to advance bilateral relations, with economic cooperation as a focal point. Manturav’s agenda includes attending the Russia - Indian Business Forum in Mumbai on November11, where he will participate in the plenary session.

This forum is organized by the Business Council for Cooperation with India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). It aims to deepen business and economic ties between the two nations, with a spotlight on industrial collaboration, transport and logistics, finance, digital technology, and interregional cooperation.

The Russian Embassy in India emphasized the forums’ significance as a strategic platform for fostering partnerships in key economic sectors. India-Russia relations have grown in recent years through shared strategic interests, expanding both economic and political ties.

The Mumbai forum offers a critical opportunity to explore additional avenues for cooperation, ensuring that the partnership adapts to evolving global challenges and economic conditions. On November12, Manturov will travel to New Delhi, where he will join India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, for the 25th Session of the Intergovernmental Russian- Indian Commissions on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation.

This session will review ongoing initiatives between the two countries and examine potential new areas for collaboration in science, technology, trade and culture.

Manturav’s visit comes on the heels of recent high- level engagements between India and Russia. Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, hosted under Moscow’s presidency. Modi addressed two sessions and praised the summit as ‘very productive’. He expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia for their hospitality. Earlier this year, Modi also visited Russia for his first bilateral visit in his third term as Prime Minister. During this visit, he attended the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit with Presidential Putin and was awarded Russia’s ‘Order of Satin Andrew the Apostle’ for his efforts to strengths bilateral relations.
