Infobip Collabs with Airtel, Vi to Ease Mobile Identity Services Infobip, a communications services major has announced its partnership with Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea to provide mobile identity services to enterprises and technology companies.

The service would use the mobile operators' subscriber data to verify and validate mobile users through their mobile numbers to pace up the introduction of new services such as authentication by apps, e-commerce, banks, and more.

In a statement, Silvio Kutic founder and CEO, Infobip says, “Mobile identity is one of our crucial projects. Partnering with Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea gives us coverage of over half of the country's mobile user base, which is essential for a further push in expanding emerging authentication solutions as digital transformation accelerates, worldwide and in India.”

However, the partnership between Infobip and the two telecom firms is expected to initially offer the silent mobile verification (SMV) service that would allow quick mobile number verification when installing an app or logging in to an account.

This silent mobile verification would be implemented as a background process imperceptible to the user, with this facility the user need not wait for a one-time password either through SMS or a verification call. This measure would cut down on the time wasted on authentication and indeed enhance user experience, states the statement.
