ChargeMOD, an energy technology startup headquartered in Kerala, has revealed its expansion strategy, declaring intentions to install 1,200 additional EV chargers nationwide and 600 more within Kerala. The company's recent announcement outlines plans to deploy 1,000 slow chargers and 200 fast chargers across multiple states in India, alongside establishing 500 slow chargers and 100 fast chargers specifically within Kerala.

Excluding the current 1,500 charging stations in Kerala and 2,000 stations nationwide, chargeMOD disclosed plans to introduce Ultra Fast Chargers with capacities ranging from 120 kW to 340 kW. This initiative aims to elevate charging speeds and convenience for EV users throughout the country, as stated in a press release by the company.

M Ramanunni, chief executive and cofounder of chargeMOD said the startup led by four engineering students has now become an entrepreneurial powerhouse. "Despite the hurdles posed by inexpensive imported chargers, 'chargeMOD' remains steadfast in our dedication to striking an equilibrium between quality and affordability. By placing utmost importance on reliability and efficiency, 'chargeMOD' endeavours to maintain its position as an architect within the EV charging sector", he was quoted in a release.

Ramanunni emphasized that chargeMOD has established new benchmarks in the electric vehicle charging sector by developing a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing both hardware and software, all crafted and produced in India. The deliberate positioning of AC slow chargers within a 5 km radius and DC fast chargers within a 50 km radius highlights chargeMOD's commitment to ensuring accessibility and convenience for EV users throughout the country.

The company asserted that with a daily influx of more than 120 new subscribers to their network, chargeMOD has facilitated emission-free travel spanning over four million kilometers. This initiative has resulted in the prevention of over 995 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions and the conservation of more than 160,000 liters of gasoline.

Incubated under the Kerala Startup Mission, the startup holds the distinction of being the pioneer in Kerala to create a homegrown mobile app dedicated to charging stations. Its extensive network spans over 2,000 charging stations across 10 states in the country, providing customer support in six languages. Among these stations, chargeMOD boasts 150 fast charging stations.
