Maharashtra Inks MOUs Worth Rs One Lakh Crore
Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Shri. Eknath Shinde, commenced his participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2024 by formalizing agreements with leading global companies from various sectors. Leading a delegation to the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Chief Minister aims to establish the state as the foremost investment destination in South Asia. With Maharashtra making significant strides in futuristic infrastructure and urban development, the Chief Minister is set to engage with global leaders in discussions about the creation of innovative urban spaces facilitated by digitization.
On the inaugural day of his visit, led by Shri Eknath Shinde and Minister of Industries, Shri Uday Samant, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were formalized with leading global and Indian companies, including B C Jindal for a Display Fab unit, AB InBev, JSW Steel – Expression of Interest (EoI), Godrej Agrovet, and Inox Air Products. These agreements span various sectors such as Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), Food and Beverage (F&B), renewables, IT/ITES and agriculture, collectively bringing in investments of One Lakh Crore. This significant investment is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities across Maharashtra.
Shri Shinde's visit commenced with the inauguration of the Maharashtra Pavilion, emphasizing the state's economic and infrastructure capabilities, aligned with a future-ready Maharashtra supported by world-class developmental and sectoral policies. The Maharashtra Pavilion served as a focal point for India's Viksit Bharat goal of becoming a developed economy by 2047. Recognized by global leaders from diplomatic, business, and government circles, Maharashtra's role as India's developmental engine was underscored.
During his interactions, aimed at fostering bilateral collaborations and exploring avenues for mutual economic development, Shri Shinde held individual meetings with Oman's Minister for Industries, HE Qais, UAE's Minister of Economy, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, and Kim Dong Yeon, the Governor of Gyoggi Province in South Korea. The discussions revolved around potential investment opportunities in Maharashtra from these countries, covering areas such as food processing, sustainable tourism, digital transformation, semiconductors, and creating a future-ready skilled workforce blueprint for Maharashtra.
