Markets Open with a Bang; Sensex Jumps 400 Points Ahead of FM Speech

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is shortly going to present the first digital-only Union Budget 2021. She has already arrived at North Block.

As this year, the traditional bahi khata is replaced with tablet. Sitharaman was carrying a tablet kept inside a red coloured cover with a golden coloured national emblem embossed on it.

Sensex, Nifty gain ahead of budget with Sensex jumping 400 points. Top gainers in the BSE pack include IndusInd Bank (7 percent), ICICI Bank, Titan, HDFC, Bajaj Finserve.

All eyes are on Sitharaman as she will be presenting the budget at a time when India and Indian economy is recovering from the COVID-19 crisis.

The FM now has a daunting task of reviving the economy. And the side-effects of pandemic that has spread its wings on various government schemes including employment, the on-going farmers protest and with salaries people eyeing tax relaxations, Sitharaman’s economic packages will be closely eyed by the country.

Experts also suggests that the focus may largely be on healthcare, agriculture, rural economy, MSMEs, credit growth and sectors which were worst-hit due to the pandemic lockdowns.
