Maruti Suzuki to Invest Rs 35,000 Crore in New Gujarat Factory
Maruti Suzuki India is planning to allocate Rs 35,000 crore for establishing its second manufacturing facility in Gujarat, as announced by Suzuki Motor Corporation President Toshihiro Suzuki. During the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS), Toshihiro stated that the upcoming plant is projected to have a production capacity of 1 million units per year. He outlined, "We are earmarking Rs 35,000 crore for constructing the second car plant in Gujarat, enhancing the total annual production capacity in the region to two million units. This comprises 1 million units at Suzuki Motor Gujarat and another 1 million units at the newly proposed plant".
Maruti Suzuki India, in which Suzuki Motor holds approximately 58 percent stake, aims to augment its production capacity by an additional 20 lakh units by 2030-31, introducing roughly 28 different models in the market. Presently, the automotive giant possesses an overall production capacity of about 22 lakh units annually, distributed across its manufacturing facilities in Haryana and Gujarat. The two Haryana-based plants in Gurgaon and Manesar collectively manufacture approximately 15.5 lakh units per annum.
Furthermore, Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a subsidiary of the company, has established a facility in Gujarat with a production capacity of 7.5 lakh units annually. Additionally, the leading car manufacturer is in the process of establishing a new manufacturing plant in Sonipat, Haryana, investing Rs 11,000 crore in its initial phase. The first phase of the new plant, with a manufacturing capacity of 2.5 lakh units per annum, is slated to commence operations by the following year.
