MerceMercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has broadened its Sustainability Garage initiative by introducing two new Centres of Excellence in Hyderabad and New Delhi. The expansion was announced at the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Dialogue India 2024, which took place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The first centre, the Climate Tech Incubator, will support 25 social enterprises dedicated to sustainable mobility and environmental innovation. Partnering with T-Hub, a prominent Indian startup incubator, this centre will offer seed funding, mentorship, and other support. Additionally, over 500 students will be involved in creating innovative climate tech solutions.

The second centre, created in collaboration with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), will focus on charging infrastructure. It will provide specialized training and aims to certify 60 young professionals this year to address the increasing demand in this field.

Renata Jungo Brüngger, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, underscored the company’s dedication to long-term value and ecological sustainability. Manu Saale, Managing Director and CEO of MBRDI, stressed India’s crucial role in advancing climate-positive solutions.

Earlier this year, the first Sustainability Garage Centre of Excellence was launched, concentrating on sustainable materials. The Sustainability Dialogue India 2024 brought together industry leaders to explore innovations in decarbonization, circularity, and sustainable mobility.
