Microsoft India hires Amrita Thapar as its CMO

Microsoft India has appointed Amrita Thapar as its new chief marketing officer. Thapar has moved on from the role of India communications lead at Amazon Web Services (AWS), which she joined in August 2020. Prior to that, she was the vice president - corporate communications and content marketing at Genpact. Her stint with Genpact lasted more than 13 years. She has also worked for Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group).

She conceptualised and ran a virtual content studio for Genpact. As a communications professional, she has designed and program managed re-badging, reputation management, besides managing media relations.

A journalist by training, Thapar has more than 15 years of experience in marketing and communications. She has worked for companies across industries like broadcast television, media strategy, professional services, and big tech. Her expertise lies in brand storytelling, content and digital operations, social media, digital campaigns and corporate communications.
