Ministry of Textiles Says PLI to be Implemented Nationwide

The Ministry of Textiles has announced that the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles will be implemented nationwide, including in Odisha.
Among the 74 applicants chosen for the scheme, 24 belong to the MSME sector. No applications have been submitted for the establishment of a factory in Odisha.
Additionally, the Ministry of Textiles has undertaken various initiatives to support and promote traditional handloom textiles throughout the country, including in Odisha.
Through several schematic interventions, comprehensive support is offered to eligible handloom agencies, workers, and entrepreneurs in areas such as raw materials, procurement of advanced looms and accessories, solar lighting units, workshed construction, product diversification, design innovation, technical and common infrastructure, marketing of handloom goods in both domestic and international markets, concessionary loans under the MUDRA scheme for weavers, and social security, among other things, across India including Odisha.
Efforts are also being made to enhance market penetration by participating in international fairs, exhibitions, significant events, Buyer Sellers Meets, and Reverse Buyer Sellers Meets for the export promotion of handloom products, which includes the unique handloom items from Odisha. Extensive publicity and brand development initiatives are being carried out through the India Handloom Brand (IHB), Handloom Mark (HLM), and other similar measures.
Moreover, support is being provided to establish international marketing connections for suitable Apex and Primary handloom cooperative societies, corporations, producers’ companies, handloom awardees, exporters, and other skilled weavers who are making exclusive export-quality handloom products.
