Nalco, NLC India, among 10 firms Bid for Coal Mine Auction

TheThe government has announced that 10 companies, including Nalco, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation and NLC India, have submitted bids for coal mines offered in the eighth round of commercial mines auction. In this round, a total of 35 coal mines were put up for auction, with 7 bids received for four coal mines. Additionally, in the second attempt of the seventh round, three coal mines were auctioned, resulting in 3 bids for all three mines, according to a statement from the coal ministry.

A total of 10 companies have participated in the auction process, according to a statement from the coal ministry. Bids were received from TANGEDCO, OCL Iron and Steel Ltd, JMS Mining Pvt Ltd, Shyam SEL & Power Ltd, SMN Tradecomm Pvt Ltd, Maa Durga Coal & Minerals Pvt Ltd and Nilkanth Infra Mining Ltd. The Ministry of Coal, acting as the nominated authority, has initiated the evaluation of bids for the 8th round and second attempt of the 7th round of commercial coal mines' auction. 

The technically qualified bidders will be shortlisted for the auction, to be conducted on the MSTC portal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the auction of 41 coal blocks for commercial mining in 2020, opening India's coal sector to private players.
