NHSRCL Contracts L&T Construction for Mumbai Ahmedabad High-speed Rail Project
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has awarded L&T Construction a contract for the Mumbai Ahmedabad high-speed rail project worth more than 7,000 crore.
The company will complete 92 percent of the main line between Shilphata and Ahmedabad with this Package.
According to a BSE filing, the project has been awarded for the construction of the 135.45 km stretch MAHSR - C3 package, which includes the construction of viaducts, stations, major river bridges, depots, tunnels, earth structures, stations, and other auxiliary works.
Meanwhile, NHSRCL has already awarded contracts for the construction of the Mumbai (BKC) station and 21 km of tunnels in Maharashtra, including a 7 km undersea tunnel. All civil contracts for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor have been awarded with this final tender, NHSRCL announced on July 20. The bullet train corridor is divided into 28 contract packages, 11 of which are referred to as "civil packages," according to the statement.
The approximately 508-kilometer Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, also known as the MAHSR Bullet Train project, will span 155.76 kilometres in Maharashtra, 4.3 kilometres in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and 348.04 kilometres in Gujarat. The train will stop at 12 stations along the way.
According to a press release issued by L&T, once completed, the High-Speed Rail will operate at a speed of 320 Kmph, covering the entire distance in about two hours with limited stops and three hours with all stops.
