Nirmala Sitharaman Launches Infrastructure Projects Worth Rs 1,000 Crore

unionUnion Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated seven infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore, aimed at enhancing residential and office facilities for government officials. The launch took place virtually, showcasing the government's commitment to the welfare of its employees.

Among the projects, the Finance Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Departmental Residential Complex for the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in Faridabad, Haryana, providing housing units for Income Tax Department officials. Additionally, she inaugurated a Residential Complex in Gurugram for officers and officials of the Income Tax Department.

For the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Sitharaman inaugurated a Departmental Residential Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi, catering to middle and senior-level officers' accommodation needs.

In the financial services sector, projects included the inauguration of the State Bank of India's new local head office building, Life Insurance Corporation of India's International Business Centre building, and Canara Bank's IFSC Banking Unit at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Furthermore, the new head office building of United India Insurance Company Ltd. was inaugurated in Chennai.

These initiatives are expected to invigorate business activities in GIFT City and improve customer service standards at United India Insurance Company.

The infrastructure projects prioritize sustainability, incorporating green building norms and modern amenities such as EV charging points, solar power plants, and rainwater harvesting.

High-ranking officials from the Finance Ministry attended the launch event. CBDT Chairman Nitin Gupta emphasized the state-of-the-art features of the new buildings, designed to enhance the working environment and promote sustainability.

CBIC Chairman Sanjay Kumar Agarwal highlighted the significance of the CITRA Heights residential campus in Dwarka, Delhi, stating its strategic location near the IGI Airport.

Finance Minister Sitharaman emphasized the importance of timely project completion, urging departments to adhere to construction timelines for effective implementation.

The launch of these infrastructure projects underscores the government's commitment to providing modern and efficient facilities for its officials, ultimately contributing to the nation's development agenda.
