ScientistScientists from NASA have described the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission, scheduled for launch this year, as an outstanding partnership between the United States and India. Experts from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) delivered presentations on the NISAR mission during the Global Science Festival Kerala (GSFK) at the Bio 360 Life Sciences Park in Thonnakkal. These discussions were included in a series arranged by the U.S. Consulate General Chennai, in collaboration with the Kerala Government, to facilitate a U.S. pavilion at GSFK.

According to NASA/JPL Project Scientist Paul A. Rosen, NISAR is well-suited for producing accurate measurements across a diverse range of applications, including forest management, flood mapping, and monitoring. Rosen expressed that the collaboration between the United States and India in developing NISAR is highly significant, and he feels honored to be part of it. He highlighted that NISAR represents the most extensive space collaboration between NASA and ISRO to date.

Inside the U.S. Pavilion, attendees can explore exhibits and access sought-after educational materials. The pavilion showcases displays on the environment, space sciences, and extraterrestrial intelligence, in partnership with esteemed organizations such as NASA and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Labs, as outlined in an official statement.

Samantha Jackson, spokesperson for the U.S. Consulate General Chennai, emphasized that the U.S. Pavilion exemplifies the strong diplomatic ties between the U.S. and India in the realm of space. She stated that science, technology, and innovation are crucial tools for addressing global challenges, and the U.S. supports cutting-edge research while fostering public-private partnerships to promote science and technology-based innovation and entrepreneurship.
