NTT begins new data center in Mumbai

The $11 billion technology services company NTT has unveiled its new hyperscale data center campus in Navi Mumbai with the first data center NAV1A. The new data center has a capacity to host 5,000 racks and support over 30 MW of IT load.

The NAV1 campus in Mahape, Navi Mumbai is planned with the capacity for up to 4 data centers, reaching up to 150 MW of facility load. In Mumbai region, NTT has three data center campuses.

Currently, NTT has 12 data centers in India spread across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Chennai, with a total facility power capacity close to 220 MW.

The company is already among the largest data centers operators in India and is currently on an expanding spree with new DC facilities coming up across all of its existing locations. NTT is developing eight more data centers and has plans to reach a facility load capacity of 509 MW by March 2024.

In Chennai, the company is building a 6-acre data center campus with whole building expected to go live around November 2023. For Noida, the company has similar plans (developing a 6-acre campus) with the data center expected go live by February 2023.

These are part of the planned $2 billion investment that the company had earmarked in 2020 for scaling its infrastructure capacity. Globally, NTT is one of the world’s largest data center operators, with over 1,300 MW of data center capacity today, including a large development pipeline of a 25 percent increase in capacity across more than 20 countries and regions globally.
