Shanker Trivedi, the Senior Vice President at NVIDIA, met with Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar at MeitY to discuss India's robust Digital Public Infrastructure. The meeting focused on exploring potential collaboration opportunities between NVIDIA and the government in the domain of Sovereign AI. "From NVIDIA's perspective, what is really interesting is the growth of sovereign AI. Digital Public Infrastructure is the basis for building Sovereign AI", said Trivedi.

"Together with a very strong infrastructure to run these generative AI models built on digital public infrastructure, it's a huge opportunity for NVIDIA to partner with the government", he added. "Thankful for a meaningful dialogue with MoS, MEITY, Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Shankar Trivedi on the critical role of Sovereign AI. We are at a juncture where the alignment of AI is with national priorities, health, agriculture & education is indispensable", said Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director, Asia South at NVIDIA.

Jensen Huang, CEO of the world's third most valuable company, has recently embarked on a mission to promote a significant message: Every country, regardless of its size or resources, should prioritize the development of its own 'Sovereign AI.' His journey has taken him to over a dozen locations, spanning from the Indian subcontinent to his most recent destination, the UAE, where he participated in the World Government Summit in Dubai.

According to Huang's vision, Sovereign AI transcends mere fancy algorithms operating in server rooms. It represents a profound power shift aimed at reclaiming national autonomy in generative AI. It emphasizes the importance of ensuring that AI decisions, which are progressively influencing areas from healthcare to defense, align with the unique priorities of each nation.

Huang is essentially assisting nations in asserting control over shaping and constructing AI to suit their specific requirements. His aim is to ensure that when AI is involved in decision-making regarding areas such as healthcare and defense, those decisions align with the values and priorities of each individual country. He contends that AI has the potential to not only transform our way of life but also influence the distinct characteristics of various nations.
