“Rental scams are a billion-dollar problem in the US. We're calling the purveyors of these awful scam listings, 'Scamlords' to really highlight the danger of online scams. With our experience in the market, we've learned all the tricks Scamlords use. This is the first anti-rental scam tool we're launching to help educate renters and stop scammers,” says Chuck Hattemer, Co-Founder and CMO of Onerent. “This is critical given that online scams are surging due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some scammers are claiming they're a landlord who can't do a showing because of social distancing. They'll often ask you to wire money in advance,” adds Chuk.

Here, with Scamlord AI, Onerent will win over the situation, as the platform is specially-abled to track the patterns and type of the properties which are targeted by defrauders. Experts working in this dominions observed that scammers copy the listing’s photo & description and replace the contact information with their own. Hence, Scamlord AI acquires the details of defrauders’ contact details provided in the listing, specifically VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) which is commonly used by scammers to avoid regular phone lines to detect the frauds. This affirms the users of Onerent that they won’t fall prey to any dishonest dealers in the platform.
“In this time of a global pandemic, being duped out of your money and finding yourself without a home is a cruel experience. For some victims, it could end in financial ruin,” concludes Chuck.
