ONGC and IGGL Signs Agreements to Connect Pipelines for easy Excavation
The North East Gas Grid will transport natural gas from Jorhat, Silchar, and Tripura assets of ONGC, Gas Limited (IGGL), and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) signed three hook-up agreements.
Indradhanush Gas Grid Ltd is building a 1656 km long natural gas pipeline that will connect the capital cities and demand centres of the eight north eastern states. These agreements will make it easier for ONGC to connect its natural gas fields to the IGGL pipeline for natural gas evacuation.
In his speech at the event, Sanjay Kumar, Director IGGL and ED Marketing ONGC, stated, "The hook-up agreements with IGGL are a strategic step to increase the connection of ONGC fields with the Northeast Gas Grid, which will benefit both firms." Customers will be able to purchase domestic petrol through it, benefiting the country's economy as a whole. The hydrocarbon potential of North East India can be fully utilised for the development of a gas-based economy in accordance with the Government of India's Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 by utilising the NEGG infrastructure.
According to Dr. Ajit Kumar Thakur, CEO of IGGL, both companies will look for opportunities to connect other ONGC gas fields to the NEGG in the future. IGGL is also in contact with other natural gas-producing companies in order to connect their gas fields with NEGG. The Hook Up Agreements will facilitate the withdrawal of 1,85,000 SCMD of natural gas from ONGC's Tripura asset, 82,500 SCMD from the Silchar asset, and 72,500 SCMD from the Jorhat asset via NEGG. The IGGL-implemented North East Gas Grid project has made 75.52% physical progress as of this writing.
