Oriana Power Unveils Gigawatt-Scale Green Hydrogen and E-Fuels Factory
Oriana Power has unveiled plans to construct a gigawatt-scale facility in India for manufacturing alkaline electrolyzers and Balance of Plant (BOP) modules. The factory, which will be rolled out in two phases, is set to begin with a 500-megawatt (MW) production capacity for electrolyzers, with operations expected to start in 2026. This development is a key part of Oriana Power’s strategy to advance green hydrogen and e-fuels technologies.
The facility will be established in collaboration with Splitwaters, a US-based company known for its advanced electrolyzer and BOP technology. This partnership, announced last month, aims to harness Splitwaters’ cutting-edge electrolysis technology to enhance the efficiency of hydrogen production using renewable energy.
The BOP systems at the new factory will handle crucial tasks such as water supply, gas separation, and purification to support the electrolyzers, ensuring high performance and dependability.
Anirudh Saraswat, Chief Business Officer of Oriana Power, commented on the project’s importance: “The green hydrogen sector faces hurdles such as high initial costs and long timelines. However, Splitwaters’ modular technology effectively tackles these challenges, allowing us to produce clean energy solutions at scale and reduce capital expenses by up to 30% compared to conventional methods”.
Oriana Power is also pursuing green hydrogen and e-fuels projects in the UK and Europe in partnership with Splitwaters. Saraswat anticipates that the green hydrogen and e-fuels segment will start contributing to revenue by the next fiscal year and will become a significant revenue source by FY2027.
