PrimePrime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Varanasi today to participate in the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan. As part of his visit, he will release the 17th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, disbursing over Rs 20,000 crore to around 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers via Direct Benefit Transfer.

Since its inception, PM-KISAN has provided benefits exceeding Rs 3.04 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmer families across India, reinforcing the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.

Following the event, Modi will participate in the Ganga Aarti at the historic Dashashwamedh Ghat and offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, reflecting the deep cultural and spiritual significance of his visit to his parliamentary constituency.

In addition to the PM-KISAN installment, Modi will grant certificates to over 30,000 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the Krishi Sakhi Convergence Program (KSCP). This initiative empowers rural women as Krishi Sakhis, providing training and certification to act as Para Extension Workers. The program aims to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability by leveraging the skills of these women, aligning with the Centre's broader 'Lakhpati Didi' program, which aims to uplift rural women economically.

The Prime Minister's agenda underscores his continued focus on rural development, agricultural support, and women’s empowerment. His visit is expected to further energize the implementation of these initiatives, fostering positive socio-economic impacts in the region.
