Qualcomm to provide $186,000 to IIITH for Edge AI Use Cases and Models

Qualcomm has announced a grant of $186,000 to the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH) for the advancement of Edge artificial intelligence (AI) use cases and AI models tailored for Qualcomm platforms. "Qualcomm announced it is providing the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) with a grant of $186,000 toward developing Edge AI use cases and AI models on Qualcomm platforms which will be led by Professor Ramesh Loganathan from IIITH", the company said.

The Qualcomm Innovators Development Kit (QIDK) offers a comprehensive solution comprising hardware, software, and customer assistance, all centered around the latest Snapdragon chipset. "By bringing together and supporting some of the best minds in the tech domain, we're pushing the boundaries and shaping the future of AI", the company said.

Previously, Qualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, announced its collaboration with India's Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) to accelerate the development and commercialization of homegrown telecom solutions.

Today's announcement marks the beginning of a three-year journey of collaboration, research, and innovation for advancing Edge AI technologies", said Leendert van Doorn, Senior Vice President of Qualcomm Technologies.

"As AI gets more pervasive, AI on the edge will be the next frontier. We are very happy that Qualcomm is setting up an Edge AI lab at IIITH that will now amplify the research efforts already underway", said P J Narayanan, Director, IIITH.
