Rajinder Gupta of Trident Group Honored with 'Vastra Ratna' Award
Trident Group Chairman Emeritus, Rajinder Gupta, was conferred the prestigious 'Vastra Ratna' Award as Special Achiever. He received it on the occasion of Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council TEXPROCIL celebrating 70 years of excellence while it pays tribute to distinguished exporters that have established a high-profile textile companies in India.
A pioneering industrialist, Gupta has grown Trident Group into a $2 billion+ global textile conglomerate. His commitment towards philanthropy and sustainability was also reflected in the formation of the Takshashila Centre of Excellence providing training facilities and employment avenues to thousands of people. Healthcare initiatives also include establishing the multispecialty Madhuban Hospital and mega medical camps, which reached health services to many previously unreached populations.
Hon'ble Minister for Textiles, Giriraj Singh, as Chief Guest gave the 'Vastra Ratna' Award. The day was also graced by Textile Commissioner of India, Roop Rashi Mahapatra.
Sustainability is a core competency for Trident Group through diverse initiatives. The company has employed aggressive renewable energy targets that target 50% energy to be sourced from renewable energy by 2025; however, biomass already stands at 42% for its source of energy. On the other hand, 41 MWp accounts for solar energy. The company has also undertaken adequate measures to conserve water. From the whole production, 100% of the water reused for the towel and sheeting production has been reused. Trident has recovered 2,651 million gallons of wastewater. It also has its Eco-Twist technology, which will be a sustainable, environment-friendly alternative to towels of regular material, reducing environmental damage while maintaining quality.
