Rama Mohan Rao Amara Named as SBI Managing Director

TheThe Central Government has appointed Shri Rama Mohan Rao Amara as the new Managing Director of the State Bank of India (SBI), effective immediately upon assumption of charge. This decision was announced through a notification from the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, dated December 18, 2024.

Shri Amara, who previously held the position of Deputy Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer at SBI, will serve a term of three years or until further notice. His appointment is in accordance with the powers granted under the State Bank of India Act, 1955.

This announcement aligns with the compliance requirements of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. SBI has confirmed that Shri Amara is not disqualified from holding this position by any regulatory authority, including SEBI.

With his extensive experience in risk management and leadership within the bank, Amara's appointment is expected to further strengthen SBI’s strategic initiatives and operational efficiency in the evolving banking landscape.
