INIn a major push to position Uttar Pradesh as a leading force in the semiconductor manufacturing sector, the state government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is gearing up to host Semicon India 2024. The event will take place at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida from September 11 to 13 and is expected to draw global attention.

Organized in collaboration with SEMI, Messe Muenchen India, and the Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA), the event aims to showcase India's growing semiconductor industry and strengthen its global standing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on September 11, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also in attendance.

India’s semiconductor market is expanding rapidly, and forecasts suggest that the country’s regional chip market could surpass $55 billion by 2026. The Uttar Pradesh government is actively seeking investments from global semiconductor firms, and the event is viewed as a crucial step in attracting such investments.

Semicon India 2024 will feature a three-day exhibition from September 11 to 13, showcasing cutting-edge innovations in semiconductor technology. Manufacturers from around the world will demonstrate their latest developments, offering a glimpse into the future of the semiconductor industry.

The second day of the event will focus on key topics like cross-regional partnerships, flexible hybrid electronics, supply chain management, and sustainable manufacturing practices—areas critical for the growth of India’s semiconductor sector.

The event will culminate on September 13, with notable presentations, including a session by Micron on package manufacturing, a semiconductor fabrication boot camp led by ISA, and a comprehensive industry progress overview presented by IESA.

This year’s Semicon India will be held alongside Electronica India and Productronica India, two of Southeast Asia’s largest electronics fairs, offering a unique opportunity for participants to engage with a broad spectrum of domestic and international companies. This joint event is expected to provide valuable insights into new business opportunities in India’s burgeoning semiconductor sector.

The Yogi Adityanath government is actively promoting Uttar Pradesh as a semiconductor manufacturing hub as part of its broader vision to transform the state into a $1 trillion economy. The newly introduced UP Semiconductor Policy offers significant incentives to attract investors, including a 50 per cent additional capital subsidy, a 75 per cent land rebate, a 100 per cent exemption from electricity duty for 10 years, and a 5 per cent interest subsidy up to Rs 7 crore.

Chief Minister Adityanath has called upon investors to recognize Uttar Pradesh’s potential, emphasizing the state’s evolution into a major electronics manufacturing center over the past seven years. Uttar Pradesh now hosts more than 200 electronics companies and commands 65 per cent of India's mobile production.

The state is now focusing on expanding into the fabless semiconductor sector, leveraging its robust rail network and growing airport infrastructure, including the soon-to-be-completed Noida International Airport. These developments, coupled with the incentives provided by the UP Semiconductor Policy, position Uttar Pradesh as an attractive destination for high-tech industries and global semiconductor companies.

With the backing of major global players like AMD, Applied Materials, and Micron Technology, and the central government's India Semiconductor Mission, Uttar Pradesh is well on its way to becoming a significant player in the global semiconductor landscape.
