SGX Makes Strategic Investment in Trading Technologies Int'l
SGX (Singapore Exchange) has announced a strategic investment of about $200 million to become a limited partner in a private equity fund managed by 7RIDGE, a specialised growth equity firm that invests in “transformative technologies”.
The investment is eyeing at strengthening investors’ participation in the derivatives marketplace across major exchanges globally – through the fund’s acquisition of Trading Technologies International, a global provider of high-performance professional trading software, infrastructure and data solutions for listed futures and options.
SGX says Trading Technologies International has close to three decades of track record in derivatives trading software, and that its privately managed infrastructure and “state of the art” SaaS-based platform offer secure market connectivity and “superior performance”.
“With 7RIDGE as its new strategic partner, [Trading Technologies International] will be in a strong position to accelerate the expansion of its industry-leading technology platform,” SGX said.
Trading Technologies has already been a long-term partner of SGX, serving its global derivatives customers with front-end workflow and connectivity solutions. The company is expected to accelerate plans to provide seamless and efficient access to major international exchanges and liquidity venues.
Loh Boon Chye, chief, SGX says, “We look forward to continued collaboration with [Trading Technologies International] as it builds upon its strong position in the derivatives market, to deliver even more innovative and efficient solutions for the benefit of our ecosystem.” The investment is expected to close before the end of the year.
