Subrata Mondal Named New Managing Director and CEO of Iffco Tokio General Insurance

IffcoIffco Tokio General Insurance Company has appointed Subrata Mondal as its Managing Director and CEO, effective immediately, the company announced. Mondal, who has been with Iffco Tokio since 2001 and previously held the position of Chief Underwriter, takes over from H O Suri as the head of the Noida-based insurer.

With more than 36 years of experience in the insurance sector, Mondal brings significant expertise in areas such as commercial insurance, risk management, underwriting, product development, and reinsurance. Commenting on his new role, Mondal said, “I am excited to lead our dedicated team as we continue delivering customer-focused insurance solutions. Together, we will build on our strong foundation and seize new opportunities in the evolving insurance landscape”.

During his tenure at Iffco Tokio, Mondal played a key role in driving the company's growth. As Chief Underwriter, he managed underwriting across various business segments, including property, engineering, marine, liability, credit, health, and miscellaneous insurance. He also spearheaded the company’s efforts in risk management, product development, and reinsurance.

Before joining Iffco Tokio, Mondal held senior roles at National Insurance Company, where he gained valuable experience in underwriting, claims management, and risk engineering for large-scale industrial projects. His career began at Steel Authority of India (SAIL) as a shift engineer at the Durgapur Steel Plant, where he was in charge of electrical maintenance in the blast furnace division.

Iffco Tokio General Insurance is a joint venture with a 51:49 ownership split between Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (Iffco), one of the world’s largest fertiliser producers, and Japan-based Tokio Marine Group, a global insurance leader.
