
Takashi Nakajima Named New President & CEO of Honda India

Takashi Nakajima has been named as the new president and chief executive of its India unit manufacturing cars and utility vehicles by Honda Motor.
The company said in a news release on Monday that Nakajima will be replacing Takuya Tsumura as the new president and chief executive of Honda Cars India Ltd effective from April 1. Takuya Tsumura is moving to Honda’s head office in Japan after completing his India tenure.
Nakajima, a Honda veteran since 1994, has previously worked in markets like Japan, China, Spain, the Czech Republic and Russia in the areas of business planning, product planning, marketing and sales promotion, the company release said. He has been serving as president of Honda Motor Russia since 2021. During his latest assignment, he was also in-charge of product planning, marketing and corporate communication for Honda’s automobile business in the Japanese market, the news release said.
Honda Motor stated that the appointments are part of the management changes it announces annually.

The company emphasized that, “During his successful three-year tenure in India, Tsumura was instrumental in fortifying the premium brand positioning of Honda in India, strengthening customer centric solutions, and driving the company's profitable growth. He led the launch of several premium models, including India's first mainstream hybrid, the Honda City e:HEV, the global SUV Honda Elevate, and the third-generation Amaze.”
