TarunTarun Chhabra, the Senior Vice President and Head of Mobile Networks at Nokia has assumed the role of Nokia's India head as part of a company-wide restructuring. In an official statement, Nokia verified Chhabra's appointment as the new country head for the Indian market, effective from April 2024. The company also announced the retirement of the previous India head, Malik, effective March 31, 2024, with Chhabra transitioning into the role during this period.

Chhabra takes over from Sanjay Malik, the former Senior Vice President, who will remain with the company until March 31, 2024. Malik served as the head of India's global customer experience or sales vertical and led the Indian market operations for nearly eight years. His reporting structure included Rick Corker, Nokia's Chief Customer Experience Officer. These organizational changes at Nokia are part of the company's global restructuring plan, disclosed in October of the previous year.

As per the restructuring plan, Nokia aims to reduce its workforce by approximately 11,000 to 14,000 positions globally. On October 19, 2023, Nokia announced strategic and operational adjustments, accompanied by a program to reset its cost base. The objective of these changes is to position the company for sustained long-term growth and to navigate through the existing market uncertainties. In a recent development, Nokia also finalized a 5G patent cross-license agreement with OPPO, a leading global smartphone brand, covering essential cellular technologies.
