Tata Power and Tata Communications Partner for 18.75 MW Solar Plant in Maharashtra

TataTata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has inked a power delivery agreement with Tata Communications Limited to establish an 18.75 MW AC group captive solar power plant in Aachegaon, Maharashtra. With an investment of Rs 105 crore, the plant, operated under the special purpose vehicle Nivade Windfarm Limited, is projected to generate 40 million units (MUs) of power annually, leading to a reduction of over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

This collaboration reflects a joint effort by TPREL and Tata Communications to promote renewable energy usage within the corporate sector. The project aligns with the broader goal of curbing environmental impact and championing sustainable energy solutions.

Deepesh Nanda, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, expressed satisfaction in partnering with Tata Communications and highlighted the positive impact of their green energy solutions. The group captive solar initiative is expected to not only decrease operating costs but also enhance energy efficiency, contributing to a more sustainable and future-ready sector.

Manoj Tripathy, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Communications, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability. The collaboration with Tata Power Renewable Energy is seen as a significant step towards fostering a cleaner and more sustainable future in the communication technology space.

This venture is part of TPREL's strategic focus on group captive projects, aligning with India's goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. TPREL has recently surpassed a capacity of over 1.5 gigawatts (GW) in group captive projects across various sectors.

With this addition, TPREL's total renewable capacity now stands at 9,015 MW, including 4,744 MW in various phases of development. This underscores the company's dedication to expanding its renewable energy portfolio to support India's sustainable energy objectives.
