Tata Power Onboards Deepesh Nanda as CEO

Deepesh Nanda has been appointed as President-Renewables and CEO & MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, effective November 1, 2023. Tata Power, one of India's leading integrated power providers, announced this. Ashish Khanna steps down as President, Generation Business, and is replaced by Nanda. According to a press release from Tata Power, Nanda brings 28 years of vast expertise from firms such as GE, Flowserve, and Tyco.

"Nanda joins Tata Power from GE Gas Power, where he was the Chief Executive Officer for South Asia, overseeing operations in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and Nepal. He was additionally President & CEO of GE's Aero-derivative Gas Turbine business segment for Asia".

From Annamalai University, Nanda received her degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering. He completed leadership training at GE Crotonville and studied for an MBA at the Open University Business School in Milton Keynes, UK. Driving the expansion and financial success of Tata Power's renewable energy portfolio, which includes solar, wind, hybrid, and B2C green energy solutions, will be Nanda's primary responsibility in his new position. He will also oversee innovation and digital transformation projects within the renewable energy industry.

A key portion of the Generation business cluster, which includes the company's forthcoming pumped hydro storage projects, hydro plants, and other new efforts aside from the current hydro and thermal plants in India and abroad, is led by Ashish Khanna, a veteran of Tata Power. The company sent a press release stating, "Bringing focus in different business and growth areas is Tata Power's key leadership change".
