TataTata Power EV Charging Solutions Ltd has inked an agreement with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to deploy more than 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging points nationwide. These stations will be established at IOCL's retail outlets. The partnership aims to create a robust and extensive intercity charging infrastructure, addressing concerns about EV range for travelers moving between cities, as stated by the company.

The forthcoming EV charging points are slated to be installed in prominent metropolitan areas such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Kochi. Additionally, they'll be strategically placed along major highways like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Salem-Kochi Highway, Guntur-Chennai Highway, and the Golden Quadrilateral. Virendra Goyal, the head of Business Development - EV Charging at Tata Power, highlighted that leveraging IOCL's widespread presence will enable the establishment of fast and superfast charging points across multiple regions, enhancing accessibility and inclusivity for a sustainable electric mobility future.

Customers will have the convenience of utilizing the 'Tata Power EZ Charge' and 'IndianOil e-Charge' applications to locate and reserve the chargers. Shri Saumitra Shrivastava, executive director (Retail-N&E) at IOCL, expressed the company's vision to set up 10,000 EV charging stations by 2024, aiming to transform its retail network into comprehensive energy solutions outlets. With an existing count of over 6,000 EV charging stations, IOCL intends to continue expanding its footprint. Tata Power presently boasts charging infrastructure spanning more than 420 cities in India. This encompasses over 62,000 home chargers, 4,900 public and semi-public charging points, along with 430 bus charging stations.
