Tata Power Renewable Energy Deploys 850 EV Charging Points to Propel E-Mobility in India
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power and one of India's leading integrated renewable energy companies, has significantly advanced the nation's e-mobility infrastructure by deploying 850 electric vehicle (EV) charging points in key metropolitan areas. These charging points are strategically located across 30 bus depots in major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Jammu, Srinagar, Dharwad, Lucknow, and Goa, enabling the operation of 2300 public e-buses nationwide.
The comprehensive bus charging network established by Tata Power has resulted in the prevention of over 1 lakh tons of tailpipe CO2 emissions, underscoring the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability. These stations are equipped with high-capacity fast chargers ranging from 180 to 240 KW, designed to meet the high-demand operational needs of public transport buses. The average charging time for these high-efficiency chargers is between 1 to 1.5 hours.
Delhi leads the utilization of Tata Power's EV charging points, followed closely by Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Jammu, and Srinagar. This extensive infrastructure supports rapid charging, essential for the continuous and efficient operation of the e-bus fleet.
TPREL is committed to advancing e-mobility adoption and collaborates with various Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) operators and state governments’ transport corporations to promote the transition to electric public transportation. The company provides an end-to-end solution for charging infrastructure development, including tailored design, cost-effective solutions, and timely execution.
