TRAI Appoints Ritu Ranjan Mittar & Maruthi Prasad as Members
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has appointed Ritu Ranjan Mittar and Maruthi Prasad Tangirala as new whole-time members for a three-year term, according to media reports. This appointment is part of TRAI’s continued efforts to reinforce its leadership team and oversee the country's telecommunication sector.
Ritu Ranjan Mittar, a former Head and Advisor at the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) brings more than three decades of expertise to his new role. A 1985 batch Indian Telecommunications Service (ITS) officer, Mittar has held various key positions in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India. Before his appointment at TRAI, he served as Senior Deputy Director General (Sr. DDG) and Head of TEC and was also the Deputy Director General (DDG) for Telecom Security in TEC New Delhi.
Maruthi Prasad Tangirala has also joined TRAI as a whole-time member, bringing extensive experience from various key roles in government regulatory bodies. He has previously worked with the Department of Telecommunications, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). His expertise encompasses regulatory frameworks, policy implementation, and strategic decision-making.
