Tsuyo, the electric vehicle manufacturer has announced the launch of a committed production line for high-wattage EV powertrains at its Dharwad facility in Karnataka. With an opening investment of USD 8 million, this marks the first production line in India specifically intended to manufacture electric motors for commercial EVs, including trucks, e-buses, e-trailers, and electric construction equipment.

This plant is expected to have a significant impact on the Indian automotive sector by enabling commercial vehicle manufacturers to take advantage of the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme through the use of localized components.

The production line, slated to begin operations this quarter, will introduce six categories of powertrain systems. Additionally, the company plans to invest another USD 2 million to expand research and development as well as testing and validation. Over the next 18 months, the facility is projected to create around 150 new jobs.

Tsuyo is an emerging leader in the electric mobility sector, specializing in the development and production of advanced electric powertrains and drivetrain systems. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, Tsuyo designs solutions for a wide range of electric vehicles (EVs), including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles.

The company revealed that the motors produced will range in power from 30 kW to 350 kW, addressing the high-end powertrain requirements of heavy-duty vehicles such as trucks and electric buses. “By providing advanced powertrain solutions locally, we are allowing manufacturers to leverage PLI benefits while supporting India’s goal of self-reliance in the EV industry”, said Tsuyo CEO Vijay Kumar.

The company is dedicated to advancing clean energy by providing high-performance, energy-efficient products that lower carbon emissions and improve vehicle efficiency. Tsuyo’s innovative technology and strategic partnerships are leading the way toward a more sustainable and eco-friendly future in the transportation sector.
