Uber Introduces Electric Vehicles in Ayodhya
Uber launched its electric auto rickshaw service in Ayodhya, named Uber Auto, inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In addition, the company announced plans to introduce UberGo, its budget-friendly car service and Uber Intercity in Ayodhya. This expansion will cater to inter-city travel demands, connecting the holy city with popular destinations within Uttar Pradesh.
"With this expansion, we are not only providing increased transportation choices for tourists and pilgrims but also creating additional earning opportunities for many individuals in the region", stated Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia. Uber's venture into Ayodhya aligns with the company's growth strategy in India, where it is currently operational in 125 cities.
"We are dedicated to contributing to Ayodhya's tourism, facilitating seamless travel experiences, and promoting sustainable economic development", added Singh. Earlier this month, Uber initiated the testing of its flexible pricing service, named Uber Flex, in various tier 2 and 3 cities across India to broaden its user base. This service allows commuters to propose a specific fare for their ride. Initially tested in India in October of the previous year, Uber Flex has now been extended to cities such as Aurangabad, Ajmer, Bareilly, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Gwalior, Indore, Jodhpur, Surat, and others.
