upGrad Onboards Karan Raturi as General Manager for North America upGrad, a renowned edtech company onboards Karan Raturi as the General Manager for North America. The growing international learners has urged upGrad to focus on the scope and targeted approach to bolster its growth. Thus, the company choose to reinforce its leadership to steer the company’s growth in this region. Upgrad is further looking to scale their international operations and to extend upGrad’s presence and penetration in the US market.

On welcoming Karan to upGrad, Arjun Mohan, CEO, upGrad India says, “Excited to have Karan join us as the General Manager for North America. Karan is a Wharton School alumnus. He has held various leadership roles throughout his career. He joins upGrad from Wayfair where he served as the Head of Business Planning. Prior to Wayfair, Karan was associated with various companies such as IBM, Novartis Venture Funds, Kurt Salmon, and GTS.

With Karan’s appointment upGrad business in North America is expected to stretch across geographies and elevate India on the global edtech map.

Over this fiscal year, the edtech major has noticed a spike in student enrolment from more than 50 countries with the second largest chunk coming from the United States of America. The number of paid learners stood at 26 percent largely coming from the US and Canada markets. Additionally, the aim to know more about the various programs by the international learners has grown 100 percent in the last year. Collaboration with top-notch global universities like Liverpool John Moores University (UK), Duke Corporate Education (US), Deakin Business School (Australia), Swiss School of Business Management, Michigan State University (US), and Geneva has been the catalyst for the international growth.
